I dance for a local dance academy, where I participate in ballet, jazz, and contemporary. I also love to coach kids, especially in volleyball and basketball. This is my second year as a D.A.R.E Youth Advisory Member. The D.A.R.E. program is truly a blessing to the kids of New Mexico.
The D.A.R.E program in New Mexico is focused on teaching us the importance of dealing with peer pressure, ways to say no, and knowing that your choices form your future. Since I go to a large high school, I deal with a lot of peer pressure and hear about many of my peers falling into peer pressure. Being in this program has helped me make choices to better myself, my family, and people around me. It has truly taught me that there are consequences in life for your choices, but its up to you to learn and better yourself from them. This is why learning how to make good decisions at a young age can be a good start to a bright future.
I believe the D.A.R.E program is so effective not only to kids, but to their surroundings. As this program continues, we can influence and save more lives by teaching how to resist drugs and violence.
My goal as a Representative is to influence kids in a positive way and be a good role model. The D.A.R.E program has helped me make an important decision on how to resist dangerous challenges in life and I want to inspire people to do it for themselves.
