Timberwolves Recognize Sgt. Bennett Heroes in the Making - Minnesota Timberwolves
Jostens and the Minnesota Timberwolves recognized Sgt. Connie Bennett as a Hero in the Making.
Sgt. Bennett has been in law enforcement for five years and a D.A.R.E. officer for three years. As a D.A.R.E. officer, Sgt. Bennett uses her own life experiences to help inner-city youth. When Sgt. Bennett felt that some of the girls needed more time and attention, she formed a D.A.R.E to Dream team.
Volunteering a lot of her personal time, paying for things out of her own pocket, transporting girls and filling in as a surrogate parent, Sgt. Bennett took a multicultural group of young women and turned them into a dance team. These girls took great pride in designing their own costumes and choreographing their routines. These girls were given a dream, and Sgt. Bennett helped make it a reality.
In addition to D.A.R.E., Sgt. Bennett volunteers as a coach for basketball, volleyball and softball. As an instructor, coach , role model and friend, Sgt. Bennett has given her love, support and guidance and continues to give a piece of her heart to the lives of many St. Paul children every day.
