Sheriff's Deputy/Lake Placid High School Resource Officer Ross Porter asked the fifth-graders, "What time is it?"

"D.A.R.E time," the students shouted...MORE

Retro Bill Honors Veterans

Zephyrhill News

“This flag represents freedom. You all have the freedom to choose, to make your dreams come true,” said Bill Russ at Zephyrhills City Hall.

The normally loud, energetic and boisterous comedian suddenly got very serious, choking back tears as he described the price veterans have paid for the freedom of American citizens.

Known as Retro Bill to school children across the nation, he uses comedy and laughter to express the importance of saying no to drugs, to caring for others and to reaching your potential.

He spoke at several area schools last week. On May 23rd, he spoke with West Zephyrhills Elementary fifth graders at their D.A.R.E. graduation. He invited all of the veterans of the Armed Forces to join him in front, honoring them with a moment of silence. Officer Daniel Hill, the ZPD D.A.R.E. officer stands in the background.
