Ralph Lochridge retired as a Special Agent with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration after 25 years—he served in many capacities of narcotic investigations, including working undercover from Hollywood to Hong Kong.
As the DARE media spokesperson, Ralph routinely coordinates local, national, and international media events including press conferences, news releases, and background briefings. Ralph is also in charge of all content appearing on the official DARE website
Prior to his position at DARE, Ralph made numerous TV appearances as the spokesperson for the DEA in Los Angeles. Ralph is highly decorated having received both the DEA Purple Heart and the DEA’s Highest Award in the agency for courage, integrity and dedication to eradicating drug abuse. He received a Special Achievement Award from the U.S. Department of Justice for film creation and production.
Because of Ralph’s extensive experiences on the front lines of law enforcement and his media relations expertise, he has been called upon by the entertainment industry as a consultant for technical advice to authors and screenwriters.
Ralph's career as a federal narcotics agent included—a "sting operation" in which he laundered millions in "narco-dollars" --drug cash for Colombian drug cartels, worked undercover on organized crime figures and raided clandestine drug labs.
While working undercover he sustained serious injuries from a shootout with drug dealers. Ralph was shot in the chest and leg at point-blank range with a .45 caliber pistol-- soon after joining the U.S. Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs—the agency that became DEA.
In the last eight years with the DEA, Ralph gave up deep undercover work to become the director of public affairs and the recruiter for the Los Angeles DEA Office. He has instructed at the FBI National Academy and DEA headquarters.
As the Director of Communications for D.A.R.E. America, Ralph coordinates all aspects of communications—including the website (dare.org) and is the spokesperson for D.A.R.E. America.
