Interview

On March 29, 2000, D.A.R.E. America sponsored a "Gold Medal Evening of Champions." DARE.com ace reporters, 10-year-old Drew and 11 year-old Saul, worked the room and interviewed many celebrities who have won Olympic Gold Medals. Nadia Comaneci is our second featured celebrity.   

Saul: When you were my age, what did you want to be when you grew up?

Nadia: I wanted to be a gymnast.

Drew: Who was your role model growing up?

Nadia: There were many gymnasts that I looked up to when I was growing up in Romania.

Saul: What was school like for you?

Nadia: It was very important to me. My parents told me that gymnastics was only a hobby, that I needed to have a good education.

Drew: What did you do about peer pressure?

Nadia: I loved sports. When you are involved in something like gymnastics, it keeps you focused away from peer pressure.
