Methodology: This study was conducted at 40 New Jersey high schools randomly chosen for socioeconomic, racial, and geographical factors. 2,000 students in grades 10, 11, and 12 responded.

Findings: Results indicated that the use of illicit drugs and alcohol had decreased significantly. There were significant decreases in the use of alcohol, marijuana, and cocaine.
Attorney General Robert J. Del Tufo stated, “This report strongly suggests that prevention and education programs which promote social competency and resistance skills like D.A.R.E. do work... the message must continue to be delivered.”
